URM plans to step up action after elections

Wednesday, 09 February 2022 | PNS | Dehradun

When other political parties are gearing up for the ensuing assembly elections to form a new government, the Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha (URM) has decided to run several movements from the month of May to ensure that the new government addresses all the concerns that were disregarded in the past five years. The URM president VK Bahuguna said that the party has also released the vision document which will be followed by the four candidates of the party in the elections and will ensure through their movements that the new government works on those public concerns mentioned in it. He informed that the party has fielded four candidates- Sunderlal Thapliyal, Shekhar Singh Negi, Babli Chauhan and Ramesh Rawat to contest elections from Dharampur, Chaubattakhal, Rishikesh and Lansdowne respectively.

He said that the party’s participation in these elections is just symbolic to represent the issues like land laws, migration, forced religious conversions in villages, apathy towards ex-servicemen, unemployment and lack of other basic facilities that political parties fail to talk about during elections. Even if they do, they forget to resolve them after winning the elections. “We have launched the vision document which is not just a manifesto for our candidates but a vision which we will follow irrespective of our win in the elections. We will open party offices in every block and connect with youths and women to address important issues through several agitations,” stated Bahuguna.  He further said, “The new government does not really start working for one or two months after being elected. Considering this, we have decided to start our agitation from May. We will start with the demand of stringent land laws, the lack of which has severely affected the locals.”
