US Nagar Police arrest two murder accused

Udham Singh Nagar police arrested two men on charges of killing a man Gurmeet and a woman Jogendra Kaur whose body parts were found near the Boar River in the Kelakhera area of the district on June 7. One of the accused is Gurmeet’s son-in-law while the other accused is Jogendra’s nephew, said the senior superintendent of police of the district, Manjunath TC. He said that both accused revealed during interrogation that the deceased Jogendra had mortgaged lands and given them to a person belonging to a minority community. They have also claimed that she was having an affair with the man too which was insulting to their families. “They said that they both made a plan to kill her and Gurmeet was also aware of it. He was allegedly threatening them to inform about the murder plan to the Police.
Considering this, they first strangled Gurmeet to death on the night of June 5 and then they killed Joginder as well,” said SSP. He said that they threw both bodies into the river and carried them about two kilometres away with the help of the flow of the river and then chopped the bodies into pieces and threw them into the river. He said that the police have also recovered the weapons used for murders and to chop the bodies as per the information of both accused. The police have also found small pieces of victims’ bodies as the accused have chopped them into very tiny pieces, said TC. He said that families of both victims’ identified them through body parts and clothing recovered by the police. The police started the investigation on the basis of the same but the police have sent samples for DNA testing to ascertain the victims’ identity, added SSP. He said that police will present both accused before the court soon.
