The chairperson of Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) Kusum Kandwal has proposed to the National Commission for Women (NCW) that it should organise awareness workshops for the women of State to prevent human trafficking. She made this proposal during a meeting organised by the NCW in Faridabad. The two-day meeting concluded on Friday.

During the meeting, Kandwal proposed that the NCW should organise programmes on various topics related to the empowerment of women in the State, their rights and their security. She also suggested organising legal and skill awareness workshops to prevent human trafficking and address the negative impact of social media on women in the State. Additionally, she emphasised the need for training programmes for women in the border areas of Uttarakhand to prevent migration, empower them and connect them with employment opportunities.
