A man along with his wife and daughter allegedly assaulted his 90-year-old mother at Narendranagar in Tehri. The victim’s arm got severely injured due to the assault. Considering this, the chairperson of Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) Kusum Kandwal directed the Tehri senior superintendent of police Navneet Singh to take strict action in the case. Kandwal went to the hospital to meet the victim and enquire about her condition. She said that the victim told her that she has three sons out of whom one along with his wife and granddaughter had beaten her and broken her arm.
Kandwal informed that she had a telephonic conversation with the SSP and told the officer to act against the culprit as soon as possible. She said, “Such cases are very shameful. People committing acts have forgotten their moral values and the importance of family in their life. The people who misbehave or exploit their old parents should face strict action.” After meeting the victim, Kandwal also inspected the Shanti Prapanna Sharma Government Hospital in Rishikesh. She met all the mothers and children admitted to the women’s ward and maternity home.
