The Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) is planning to organise a women awareness programme within a week in Dehradun. The chairperson of USCW Kusum Kandwal informed that women from Anganwadi centres, Women Empowerment and Child Development department, colleges and schools will be part of the programme. She said that the main theme of this awareness programme will be women’s rights and empowerment. She said that the main objective of the programme is to raise awareness among women regarding their rights, employment opportunities, and cyber crime. The commission will also raise awareness among women regarding religious conversion and love Jihad cases considering a rise in such cases in recent times across the State, she added.
She further said that in this programme the commission will also be raising awareness among the women through street plays. The USCW head said that the commission is also planning to organise the women’s awareness programme in the other districts of the State. Kandwal added that recently the commission organised a women’s awareness programme in Tehri. The programme in Tehri targeted 200 plus women and also raised awareness among the village women, she added.
