The Uttarakhand State Commission for Women (USCW) is planning to raise public awareness on love Jihad. The USCW chairperson Kusum Kandwal has also directed the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar to take strict action in cases of love Jihad in the district. Kandwal told The Pioneer, “Recently I asked the SSP to take strict action in cases of love Jihad. The SSP informed me that consistent action is being taken in cases of love Jihad and that the cases are also being investigated in a detailed manner.”
She further stated that the commission will organise various awareness programmes in all districts regarding the increased number of love Jihad cases in the State. She added that the main aim of the awareness programmes is to raise awareness among parents and girls, especially in mountainous areas. The commission is planning to organise these awareness programmes soon, she added.
