Use of quarter glass bottles banned in country liquor

 In an effort to solve the problem of adulteration in country liquor and curb the menace of illicit liquor the excise department has banned the use of glass bottles in packing quarters of country liquor. The order will be effective from the next financial year.

In an order the excise commissioner H C Semwal said that in the country liquor in quarter sized glass bottles will be banned from the financial year 2025-26. This will be available in tetra packs only.

 The order follows a raid conducted by a team of the excise department in many liquor shops in Haridwar district on December 30. The team recovered illicit country liquor from a shop in Shetalkheda . Similarly the officials of the department raided an illegal factory of country liquor in which it recovered illicit liquor and empty glass quarters from the spot.
