USERC observes Agriculture Day on Basant Panchami

Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC) celebrated Basant Panchami festival as Agriculture Day under the joint aegis of Alpine Institute on Monday. The director, USERC, Anita Rawat
said in her address that India being an agricultural country must take forward the traditional science by adopting the latest techniques to make India self-reliant in the field of agriculture. She stressed on application of Artificial Intelligence and Drone technology in agriculture. Further, she pitched for   organic farming and farming of medicinal and aromatic plants in Uttarakhand. She exhorted the youth to utilise the career opportunities loaded in modern technology-based agriculture and to ensure   sustainable development through increased use of environment- friendly products.

The retired senior scientist of Botanical Survey of India (Government of India) Harish Singh spoke on the medicinal and aromatic plants with focus on their uses, status and prospects of cultivation in Uttarakhand.
