Stating that sexual harassment of women at the workplace is a shameful act, the chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Women Commission (USWC), Vijay Barthwal has written to the director-general (DG) of the Department of Medical, Health and Family Welfare of Dehradun to take cognisance of the matter in which an intern has accused a senior doctor of a government hospital of sexual harassment.
Barthwal said in her letter that she came to know about this matter through the media. She said that it is a shameful act and the DG must contact the complainant personally to know about the issue to take action against the culprit. She has directed the DG to make the commission aware of developments in the matter as soon as possible.
