In latest news from Doon, to facilitate people’s travel back home during the Holi festival, the Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) will press into operation 40 additional buses. Informing this, the UTC assistant general manager SS Bisht said that these additional buses would operate both in the plains and the hills, like Delhi, Moradabad, Bareilly and Lucknow in plains and in Bageshwar, Ranikhet and Almora in hills. He further said that if required, the number of such buses would be increased. This aside, the UTC employees who would work on the day of Holi will be provided with incentive amounts.
Notably, there are 184 buses at the Haldwani/Kathgodam depots and just 140 of them operate normally while the rest are pressed into operation only in the time of festivals to deal with the festive demand.
