In latest news from Dehradun, in a piece of good news for the unemployed youths of the State, Uttarakhand Transport Corporation is all set to recruit drivers and conductors through outsourcing. It is further learnt from the corporation officials that roadways recruitment would be held for 162 vacant posts of drivers and conductors. The agency to be entrusted with the work is yet to be finalised and the process of selection is underway. Notably, no straight recruitment has been held in the corporation since 2016. Every year some employees are retiring and the posts falling vacant due to their retirement are not being filled. As a result, the pressure on the working drivers and conductors of the roadways buses keeps mounting and this is negatively impacting the roadways bus service. Meanwhile, the contract with the previously selected outsourcing agency has expired and now a new agency would be selected. Speaking on the matter, the director (personnel) Uttarakhand Transport Corporation R P Bharati said that in all, 57 drivers and 105 conductors would be recruited through the outsourcing agency. If the situation so warrants the corporation would go for more outsourcing-based recruitments, he added.
