UTDB signs MoU with ITBP to promote tourism in border villages

In latest news from Uttarakhand, tourism activities in the remote border villages of the State are set to gain further traction with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) having signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Northern Frontier Headquarter. Under the MoU, the Tourism department will expand heli services to promote tourism in the border villages. The department officers said that the objective is to generate employment opportunities in these villages to facilitate reverse migration. The MoU was signed in the presence of the chief secretary Radha Raturi and IG, ITBP – Northern Frontier Sanjay Kumar Gunjyal.
ITBP has agreed to allow the State government to use helipads in its operational areas for tourism promotion activities in remote areas like Adi Kailash, Om Parvat, Timmersain Mahadev and Hemkund Sahib among others. Besides, the helipads will also be used to provide emergency medical services to the villagers. ITBP has now presence in three border districts: Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh.
Raturi thanked ITBP for extending support to implementation of the ‘Vibrant Village Programme.’
