The International Day of Yoga that celebrates yoga as life- transformational practices and disciplines that embrace all aspects of life from the physical to the spiritual is being observed with enthusiasm and vigour across the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand.  Celebrating this great occasion with others, the State chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Yoga Guru Ramdev have performed yoga in Haridwar. Since the morning, thousands of people have thronged various Ganga ghats to perform yoga.

In his message on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga, the Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (retd) said that yoga harmonises body, brain and soul and helps humans live a healthy, controlled and tension-free life based on positive attitude. He said that the aftermath of Covid-19 pandemic has further enhanced the efficacy of practising yoga and pranayama. He stressed on adopting yoga as a daily part of life instead of relegating it as an outside activity.

On the eve of the day, the CM while greeting the people urged them to help the State become the best one in the realms of yoga, culture and tourism. “The life-transforming yoga that the sages of ancient India conceived and bequeathed to humanity has assumed a new identity thanks to the relentless efforts and far-sighted vision of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Let us make yoga an integral part of our daily life and inspire others to do the same. India has remained through millennia a vibrant example of unceasing service to humanity,” the CM said.

Aside from Rishikesh and Haridwar, the International Day of Yoga has been enthusiastically observed particularly in the pilgrimage places and health and wellness centres spread across the State.
