Uttarakhand CEO seeks support of political parties for by-elections

In view of the upcoming Assembly by-elections in two constituencies, the chief electoral officer (CEO) of Uttarakhand BVRC Purushottam held a meeting with the representatives of the political parties on Tuesday.
The CEO thanked all the political parties for peaceful and safe conduction of recently held Lok Sabha elections in the State. He expressed hope the political parties will continue to extend their support for the upcoming Assembly by elections of Badrinath and Manglaur. Purushottam gave a detailed account of the election process of the by-elections. He said that the voters can use the photo identity card issued by the Election Commision and 12 other documents to cast their votes. The CEO also informed about the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) enforced in Haridwar and Chamoli districts for the by- elections.
The voting for Manglaur and Badrinath Assembly by- elections will be held on July 10and the process of filing of the nomination papers will start on June 14. The counting of the votes will be done on July 13 and the results will be declared on the same day. There are 1,02,145 voters in Badrinath while the number of voters in Manglaur is 1,19,930.
The joint chief electoral officer Namami Bansal, deputy CEO Mukta Mishra, ACEO Mastu Dass and representatives of all the political parties attended the meeting.
