The Uttarakhand Mining department has set a new record in revenue generation during the financial year 2025-26. The department has broken all past records by earning a total revenue of Rs 1,217 crore against a target of Rs 950 crore.

According to officials, the department deposited Rs 1,130 crore into the treasury, while Rs 80 crore was received from the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMF) and Rs seven crore from SMET. This brought the total revenue to Rs 1,217 crore.

According to data from the Mining department, revenues that began at just Rs 110 crore in 2012-13 have steadily increased, reaching over Rs 1,000 crore. Revenues of Rs 645 crore were generated in 2023-24, a figure that has now nearly doubled.

Under the State government headed by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, mineral policies and regulations were simplified, which promoted legal mining and effectively controlled illegal mining, transportation and storage. The allocation of mining leases through a transparent process also played a significant role in revenue growth.

Officials further said that the department has implemented modern systems such as Mining Digital Transformation & Surveillance System (MDTSS) and e-Ravanna. Under this scheme, 45 unmanned e-checkpoints have been installed in four plain districts, equipped with ANPR cameras, RFID tags and other modern equipment. Besides, the monitoring system has been further strengthened with technologies like Mineral Management System, e-Ravanna, Mining e-Services, Decision Support System (DSS), VTS and weighbridge integration.

The use of paper with special security features in e-Ravanna forms has effectively prevented copying and misuse, leading to significant increase in revenue. The MDTSS and e-Mining Security Paper projects of the Mining Department were awarded the prestigious SKOCH Award (Gold) at a function held in New Delhi earlier in March this year.

The State has also been awarded an incentive of Rs 200 crore by the Ministry of Mines for reforms in the mining sector. This includes Rs 100 crore for achieving second place in Minor Mineral Reforms and Rs 100 crore for outstanding performance under the State Mining Readiness Index.
