Uttarakhand no place for spitting in food items, says Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has stressed that there is no place for incidents of people spitting in food items in Uttarakhand. Strict action will be taken against anyone found indulging in such actions. Such actions not only contaminate the food item but also hurt public sentiments. The government will take strict action against such acts, he stressed.

Dhami took cognisance of video clips showing some people spitting in food items at hotels and eateries, which recently went viral on social media. Acting on this directions, the officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar has directed the police to take strict action in such cases. The senior superintendents of police and all districts have been directed to ensure proper verification of those working in hotels, roadside eateries and other commercial establishments. Stress should also be laid on installing CCTV cameras in such establishments. The help of the local intelligence unit will also be taken to monitor those operating food businesses in open areas, officials said. Apart from this, random checking will be conducted by the Health department and the Food and Drugs Administration in coordination. It will be recalled that recently, the police acted against two men who had allegedly spit in the tea they were serving to the public in the Mussoorie area.
