Uttarakhand received the award for the State’s Manakhand tableau winning the first prize in the Republic Day parade held in the national Capital. The Union minister of State for Defence, Ajay Bhatt presented the award which was received by the State’s Information and Public Relations director general Banshidhar Tiwari. The department’s joint director KS Chauhan was also present on the occasion. It will be recalled that this is the first time when Uttarakhand’s tableau has won the first position in the Republic Day parade held in New Delhi.

Expressing happiness, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that people across the nation and abroad will get to know about Manaskhand and the folk culture of Uttarakhand. He congratulated the people of Uttarakhand, staff of the Information department, the artisans involved in preparing the tableau and artistes who were part of the presentation. It is pertinent to mention here that the Manaskhand tableau was proposed under Dhami’s guidance for the Republic Day parade. On the lines of Badrinath and Kedarnath, the ancient temples of the Kumaon region are being developed as part of the Manaskhand Mandir Mala project. More than two dozen temples have been included in the first phase of the project. These temples include Jageshwar Mahadev, Chitai Goljyu, Suryadev Mandir, Nanda Devi Mandir, Kasardevi Mandir, Jhankar Saim Mandir, Patal Bhuwaneshwar, Berinag Mandir, Bagnath Mahadev, Patal Rudreshwar Gufa, Kainchi Dham, Chaiti (Bala Sundari) Mandir and others.

The Manaskhand tableau of Uttarakhand displayed during the Republic Day parade on Kartavya Path this year also included a troupe of 18 artistes.
