Uttarakhand Roadways bus overturns in Uttarkashi

A bus of Uttarakhand Roadways carrying 30 passengers veered off the road and overturned near Jakhol in Uttarkashi district. The bus was en route to Dehradun when the accident occurred just two kilometres ahead of Jakhol, near Sunakundi village, as per the officials. According to them, the bus lost control and overturned at the edge of the road due to which 14 passengers were injured out of which six required urgent medical attention.

The officials said that the rescue team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called at the spot that transported the injured to the nearest Community Health Centre in Mori. An ambulance was also dispatched from Mori to the accident site to ensure timely aid. The Uttarkashi district magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht also directed local authorities to ensure proper medical care for the injured.

 He also contacted one of the passengers of the bus, Surendra Singh, a resident of Jakhol, to gather details about the incident and the well-being of all passengers. The officials said that as per the initial inquiry, it appears that the driver lost control of the bus but the authorities are yet to ascertain the cause. The investigation is ongoing, they added.
