Uttarakhand sets up SHSRC to improve health services

The Uttarakhand government has decided to set up the State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC) for improving the quality of health services in the State.

The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said the SHSRC has been set up on the lines of the central government for bringing innovation, transparency, improving quality and strengthening the distribution system.

He claimed that apart from making the health services more accessible, the centre will develop a system of training, skill development, reporting and feedback in the State health services.

 Rawat added that the SHSRC will prepare a protocol for prevention of infectious diseases from time to time which will help in improving the quality of the health services.  The centre will also assess the challenges of district and block level and prepare an extensive report every month and make suggestions to the government.

The minister expressed confidence that the SHSRC will play a key role in effective implementation of health schemes, immunization, encouraging institutional deliveries, reducing infant mortality and TB eradication programme.

Rawat has directed the senior officers of health and family welfare department, medical education department and mission director National Health Mission to coordinate with the SHSRC so that the targets of health services are achieved and better services are provided to the general public.
