The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has declared the cyber crime police station unit of Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) to be among the top three cyber units of the country, said the senior superintendent of police of STF Ayush Agrawal. He said that DSCI has selected the top three units from 40 agencies belonging to states across the country under the category of Excellence in Capacity Building for Law Enforcement Agency.
He said that consistent efforts are being made to improve the STF’s efficiency in tackling cyber crimes which are consistently increasing in the State as well as the country. He said that STF’s cyber crime unit was the first police station in the country to adopt the process of Zero FIR to help the victims in cyber cases. This initiative was later appreciated by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (14C) of the Ministry of Home Affairs. He said that the cyber crime unit is consistently acting against cyber frauds at national as well as international levels.
Agrawal said that Uttarakhand police is also running the eSuraksha Chakra campaign in which STF has been appointed as the nodal agency in the State. The STF’s cyber crime unit works in coordination with the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Center (I4C) for the prevention of cyber crimes and makes continuous efforts to provide relevant training sessions to personnel, he added.
