Uttarakhand to celebrate Yuva Diwas on Vivekananda Jayanti every year: CM

Uttarakhand will celebrate Yuva Diwas on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanti on January 12 every year at district and state levels . The Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement while inaugurating 22nd State level Yuva Mahotsav at Parade Ground here on Wednesday. He said that several teams from all districts are participating in the three-day festival that commenced on Wednesday.
He also announced an increment of Rs 1,000 in the incentive amount of Yuva and Mahila Mangal Dals across the State who will now receive Rs 5,000 as an incentive amount. The CM also honoured three Yuvak Mangal Dals and four Mahila Mangal Dals with the state level Vivekananda Youth Award on the first day of the festival. Yuva Mangal Dals from Munakot Block in Pithoragarh district got the first prize and Dals from Ghat Block in Chamoli and Narsan in Haridwar got second prize and third prize respectively. The CM awarded first prize to Mahila Mangal Dal from Ghat block in Chamoli and second prize to Kapkote block in Bageshwar district. The third prize was jointly given to Mahila Mangal Dals from Doiwala Block of Dehradun and Bhagwanpur Block of Haridwar district. The Yuva and Mahila Mangal Dals who got the top three prizes also received a cash prize of Rs one lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively by the CM.
Talking about the significance of the celebration of Yuva Mahotsav, the CM said that such festivals promote the State’s culture and traditions among young generation. He said that those participants who will be selected in this youth festival would showcase the State’s art and culture at the National Level Youth Festival on January 12 at Dharwad in Karnataka. They will be Uttarakhand’s brand ambassadors representing its tradition and culture, added the CM. The Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Rekha Arya and MLAs Khajan Das and Brij Bhushan Gairola were also present at the event.
