Uttarakhand to develop six aroma valleys, says Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that six aroma valleys will be developed in Uttarakhand to promote aromatic farming in the State. He was addressing a programme at Himalayan Cultural Centre here on Saturday. Appointment letters were distributed to 609 youngsters in the Agriculture, Horticulture and Social Welfare departments at the event.

Congratulating the newly appointed candidates, the CM expressed hope that all of them will discharge their duties with a resolve to boost the agriculture and social welfare sectors in Uttarakhand.

He added that the newly appointed youngsters will innovate in the field of agriculture in Uttarakhand while also working to connect farmers with modern agricultural technology.

The CM said that the State government is providing interest-free loans of up to Rs three lakh to the farmers of the State. The farmers are also being given up to 80 per cent subsidy for purchasing agricultural equipment through the farm machinery bank scheme. He said that the State government is purchasing millets at a fixed minimum support price through the State Millet Mission. Dhami said that work is also being done to convert the tea gardens of Dhauladevi, Munsiyari and Betalghat into organic tea gardens.

 The CM informed that about 18,000 cluster-based polyhouses are being constructed to increase the income of farmers.  He said that Uttarakhand climate responsive rain-fed farming Project has also been approved at a cost of about Rs 1000 crore to encourage rain- fed farming in the mountainous areas of the State. 

The chief minister said that the Social Welfare department plays an important role in helping the weaker sections of the society.  He added that promoting equality, education, health, and employment opportunities in the society are among the top priorities of the government. 

Dhami said that in the last three and a half years, more than 20,000 youngsters have been given appointments in various departments of the State government. 

Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi the State government is working dedicatedly to provide employment to the youth.

 MLAs Savita Kapoor and Pramod Nainwal, secretaries SN Pandey and Neeraj Khairwal, director general of Agriculture, Ranveer Singh Chauhan and others attended the programme.
