In latest news from Uttarakhand, with the date of the Lok Sabha election for the State announced, the Uttarkashi district magistrate and district electoral officer Meharban Singh Bisht issued detailed guidelines to the officers for strict compliance of the model code of conduct (MCC). He stressed on immediate removal of campaign materials defacing the government properties. He also directed them to stop use of departmental vehicles by political parties and candidates and misuse of government funds for partisan political campaigning. Further, he sought cooperation of the civil organisations and educational institutions to ensure free, fair and peaceful election.
Importantly, he asked the officers to stop paid and fake news and warned that stern action would be taken against the delinquent found flouting the MCC during electioneering.
