Uttarkashi police nab absconding swindler from Kerala

In latest news from Uttarakhand, in a major crackdown as part of special operation being conducted to nab the absconding criminals with bounty on their heads, the Uttarkashi police arrested a miscreant from Kerala.  Senior cops said that the actions are being taken against the fugitive criminals to ensure peace in the district in the run-up to the general election. Police sources said that the swindler had absconded with an advance amount of Rs three lakh from Uttarkashi Municipality in the name of garbage disposal work. The case had been registered against him under section 420/406 IPC and further, the district court had slapped 82 CrPC on him.

The district police officers informed that as directed by the Uttarkashi police superintendent Arpan Yaduvanshi and the deputy superintendent of police Prashant Kumar, a joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Kotwali police apprehended the accused identified as K M Sanjeev (40) from Meenakath House, Ottapalam, Kerala on February 11. Later, the accused was brought to Kotwali Uttarkashi to be presented before the court.
