The Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) will soon establish a polytechnic campus in Narendranagar. The upcoming BTech course for the academic session 2024-25 will be offered at the campus, with 60 seats in computer science and engineering, 30 seats in electrical engineering, 30 seats in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 30 seats in food technology.

The university’s executive council has approved this decision, and the process of implementation will commence after receiving approval from the State government. As part of the preparations, a thorough inspection of the campus was conducted, followed by a meeting held under the guidance of university vice chancellor Onkar Singh on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the officials discussed the operation of the new campus institute, specifically focusing on the utilisation of buildings and providing additional equipment for the resources available at the polytechnic campus. This would cater to the needs of the first-year BTech students.

During the meeting, Singh said that work would be done on a sharing basis. In the pharmacy building located in the polytechnic campus one 60-seat and three 30-seat classrooms would be allocated for use by the campus institute. Additionally, the teachers’ rooms at the polytechnic would be utilised by the teachers of the campus institute, he said.

Singh further added that to enhance capacity and ensure smooth operations, two rooms in the new building under construction could also be used. The executing institute officials assured the university administration that two rooms on the first floor of the building under construction would be prepared and made available promptly, he said.

Singh further stated that there are currently three vacant residences of type-four and four vacant residences of type-two on the polytechnic campus. These buildings have been transferred to the university campus due to non-use. They will be repurposed as hostels for the engineering college and will undergo necessary maintenance and repairs, he said.
