The vice chancellor of the Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) Onkar Singh visited THDC-IHET Engineering College, New Tehri on Tuesday. Before the academic inspection of the college, he discussed problems related to the running of the college with the executive director of THDC India Limited LP Joshi and the project officials of the college. It was agreed during the meeting that they would solve the problems together.
Joshi said after the meeting that the college had been facing stagnation for some time with the students bearing the brunt of things. “But as the engineering college has become a campus college of UTU on May 9, we hope that the college will achieve its goal under the direction of the UTU vice chancellor,” he said.
While addressing the academic and non-academic personnel of the college, the UTU VC said that the MoU signed earlier with THDC could not have been executed for certain reasons. “But now, this institute will be run in accordance with the terms of the MoU,” he added.
Addressing the teachers of the college, he said that the college has sufficient resources and these should be used to the utmost to provide quality education to the students. “We all have to work together to improve things and any suggestion for the betterment of the institute is welcome,” he said, adding that the college can take advantage of the industrial experiences because of its association with THDC India Limited, one of the Navratnas.
