The secretary of the Uttarakhand Vidyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP), Vinod Simalti has instructed the Chief Education Officers (CEOs) of all districts to take direct action against students identified as cheating during the Class X and XII board examinations. He said this while discussing the preparations for the board examinations of class X and XII under the UVSP framework.
Simalti said that the UVSP has made arrangements to ensure the successful conduct of board examinations in all districts. He said that this year, the written examinations for these classes are scheduled to begin on February 21 and will continue till March 11. Additionally, practical examinations for the respective classes began in the schools across all districts, running from January 16 to February 15.
He informed that the practical examinations for classes X and XII were conducted under the UVSP, with an average of 19 subjects involved. He informed that for class X, there will be 111,420 institutional candidates and 2,268 individual candidates, resulting in a total of 113,688 candidates. In class XII, the numbers are higher, with 1,052,298 institutional candidates and 4,401 individual candidates, leading to a total of 1,096,699 candidates. The examinations will be held at 1,245 centres throughout the state, which include 165 sensitive centres and 5 highly sensitive centres. Additionally, he said that 13 main collection centres and 26 sub-collection centres have been established across the state.
Simalti further added that the admit cards for the examination have not yet been issued to the students. He said that these admit cards would be distributed one week prior to the start of the examinations. Additionally, he stated that two teachers would be present to supervise each examination room at the centres during this period.
Simalti said that, in order to ensure the success of the board examinations, a meeting was recently held with the chief executive officers of all districts within the state. He said that all CEOs have been instructed to guarantee that the examinations are conducted without any instances of cheating and to maintain a peaceful environment in every district. They have been directed to uphold fairness at all examination centres and to prevent any form of negligence. Further, he underscored the significance of securing the question papers at each examination centre, which must be monitored by the centre administrators and custodians.
