Monday, 12 AUGUST 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Uttarakhand Vidyalayi Shiksha Parishad (UVSP) will create a question paper bank to assist students in preparing properly for their board examinations. The additional secretary of UVSP, Vinod Simlati stated that a workshop was organised under the guidance of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in which the authorities were advised to conduct board examinations in the form of competitive exams in line with the National Education Policy (NEP)- 2020. Following the direction, the UVSP commenced preparing for the board examination based on competitive exams.

He further informed that the key objective behind this shift towards competitive exams is to enhance students’ capabilities and focus on practical knowledge rather than rote learning. In light of this transformation, UVSP aims to develop a question paper bank containing sample papers for students to prepare effectively for their exams. UVSP has instructed the chief education officers of all districts in the State to designate experts from their respective districts to create sample question papers in a competitive exam format. These experts will develop the papers, which will then be distributed to all UVSP-affiliated schools or published on the UVSP website for easy access for students in preparation for the examinations. He further added the question papers will be crafted according to the NEP. Specifically, there will be sample question papers for eight subjects in class X and for 29 subjects in class XII. Class X exam subjects will include Hindi, English, Mathematics, Social Science, Home Science, Sanskrit and Entertainment Arts. In contrast, the class XII question papers will cover subjects such as Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Punjabi, History, Geography, Economics, Home Science, Music, Drawing, Political Science, Sociology, Education Science, Psychology, Military Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Accountancy, Business Studies, Agriculture and Computer Science. It is expected that the creation of question papers from the question paper bank will begin in August, Simalti added.
