In latest news from Uttarakhand, the fabled Valley of Flowers located in Chamoli district has opened for tourists after the deputy forest conservator B B Martolia flagged off the first group of 48 tourists from Ghangaria base camp. He said that as a sanctuary houses the valley, there is prohibition on tourists staying overnight there. So the tourists for the valley will have to return to Ghangaria the same day.
However, there are ample accommodation arrangements at Ghangaria. If one wishes he may engage a tourist guide from the base camp at Ghangaria. This year the Valley of Flowers will remain open for tourists till October 31.
