The CM meets Katariya at her home in Haridwar; hands over a cheque for Rs 25 lakh
Chief minister Puskhar Singh Dhami met famous hockey player Vandana Katariya at her residence in Roshanabad in Haridwar on Thursday and felicitated her after her return from the Tokyo Olympics. Congratulating Katariya on her stupendous feat, the CM said that she has enhanced the pride of the state. He said that by scoring a hat trick in the Tokyo Olympics, she has created a distinct identity for herself. Dhami exhorted her to work hard and continue playing with the same zeal and determination. He said that the state government is devising a new sports policy so that better facilities are made available to the sportspersons.
On the occasion Dhami handed her a cheque of Rs 25 lakh. He also felicitated her with the Tilu Rauteli award which includes a citation and reward of Rs 31,000. It is worth mentioning here that the Uttarakhand government has made Vandana Katariya as the brand ambassador of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme.
Cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat, Yetishwaranand, MLAs Deshraj Karnwal, Adesh Chauhan, secretary, women and child development department HC Semwal and relatives of Vandana Katariya were present on the occasion.
