The Bharatiya Janata Party is doing its bit to ensure its victory in the Kedarnath Assembly bypoll. On Monday, a number of social and political activists joined the BJP in the presence of the party’s State chief Mahendra Bhatt. The State party chief recalled the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s role in creating Uttarakhand as a State, while also pointing towards the stance taken by the Congress at the time. Reiterating the ideas stated by other party leaders, Bhatt compared the performance of the BJP and the Congress governments at the Centre. He claimed that the BJP is popular because it acts upon what it promises. He mentioned the court case and the consecration of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, claiming it as the party’s achievement. “Bharat and Uttarakhand today are looking up to development and many of them are experiencing this aspect in their lives. The construction of the all-weather road, the development of Badrinath-Kedarnath or the expansion of the road network to connect towns and villages, the Centre and State government are executing various schemes to achieve this. The State government has decided to ensure that villages with 50 residents will be connected by road, with the chief minister making an announcement regarding this, said Bhatt.
It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP is focusing upon both the resident voters and the migrants to boost its chances of a victory. On the other hand, the Congress is focusing on the alleged lack of development in the constituency, corruption and other aspects affecting the voters in the Kedar Valley. The BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal is recalling the works she claims to have facilitated in the past while the Congress is focusing on the works it claims the government has claimed without execution.
