Various Congress & BSP leaders join the BJP

A number of party workers left the Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party here on Friday. These include two leaders who had contested the recent Assembly elections on the Congress ticket and one who had contested on the BSP ticket along with a number of Panchayat members and State level leaders of these two parties. They joined the BJP in the presence of the party’s State president Madan Kaushik, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaushik said that a large number of people from other parties are joining the BJP due to the policies and dedication of the party organisation. The BJP government attempts to meet the expectations of the people and share their happiness and sorrows. It is due to the service by the organisation that many continue to join the BJP, he said.Greeting those who had joined the party, he said that their inclusion will make the party stronger.

Addressing the gathering, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the BJP is different from other political parties because for it politics is a means to serve the people. He said that impressed by the working style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, people had established the BJP as the largest political party in the world. He exhorted those who had joined the party to work for strengthening the party in their respective areas and prepare for mission 2024. He also spoke about the State government’s aim to develop Uttarakhand into a model state of India.

Haridwar MP and former chief minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said referring to the Haridwar constituency, that those who had contested the elections against the BJP are now with the party due to the efforts of the public. People move towards a party which is concerned about them and fulfills their works. The BJP did not let the major interests of the people get sidelined and has consistently attempted to fulfill the aspirations of the people, added the Haridwar MP.

Those who took the BJP membership on the occasion include former Congress State vice president and Haridwar candidate Subhash Chaudhary, former State general secretary of the Congress Satish Kumar, former State secretary of Congress Mohammed Yunus, BSP former State secretary Yogesh Kumar, former district head of BSP Mahaveer Singh and other leaders from the two parties including a number of Panchayat leaders. Cabinet minister Dhan Singh Rawat and other party leaders were also present on the occasion.
