Discussions were held on various subjects on the second day of the fourth Dehradun Literature Festival here on Saturday. The festival witnessed sessions including noted personalities like Imtiaz Ali, Prahlad Kakkar, Piyush Panday and Jonathan Gill Harris among others.
Saturday’s highlight was a session by film director Imtiaz Ali in conversation with Richa Anirudh. The musical film ‘Jeena Abhi Baki Hai’ was also screened on the occasion. Ali said, “I failed in class IX. This failure opened my mind. I eventually mastered the subjects I used to fear earlier like physics, chemistry, and maths. Another mantra that I live by is that I usually don’t get disappointed if something bad or negative happens to me. This is because I know that in the end, I’ll surely get something productive out of it.”
In the session on the changing face of advertising, advertising professional Piyush Panday conversed with ad film director Prahlad Kakkar.
Commenting on the gender diversity in advertising, Kakkar said, “Advertising has been the only profession where females used to be paid more than men. They are born with natural aesthetics and are good at multitasking while on the other hand, men have huge issues with ego.”
A session was also held involving bureaucrat and author Ranvir Singh Chauhan, Sanjay Abhigyan, and Dr Krishan Avtar which was moderated by noted advocate and poet Atul Pundir. Uttarakhand’s director general of police Ashok Kumar and senior IPS officer Amit Lodha also had a conversation around Kumar’s book Human in Khakhi.
