Varsities to hold seminars on G-20 summit themes: Edu minister

The higher education department of Uttarakhand would hold seminars in 15 universities of the State on various subjects related with the theme of the G-20 summit being chaired and hosted by India this year. The higher education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said this while chairing a meeting of the higher education department at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. The minister said that India would host the G-20 summit this year and meetings of the summit would be held in different parts of the country including Uttarakhand. He said that seminars would be held in 15 universities of the State on different subjects of the summit and these would be attended by the chief minister (CM), Member of Parliament (MP), minister in charge, MLAs, local representatives, subject experts, scientists and scholars. The Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Kumaon University NK Joshi would be the nodal officer for these seminars while the advisor of Rashtriya Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) MSM Rawat and Joint director higher education A S Uniyal would be the coordinators’ of these seminars. These seminars would be organised on 10 subjects of the themes of the G-20 summit which includes Global trade, food security, climate change, digital skill, sustainable development, health, agriculture, power, environment and corruption.
In the meeting the minister directed the officials for agreements on teaching sharing with renowned universities of the country and abroad with universities of the State. He said that it would help in exchange of knowledge and help the students. The minister directed that a committee at university level and in State administration should be constituted for promoting research in the State. He said that soon a State level convention would be organised in the State to promote Sanskrit. The Union home minister Amit Shah and education minister Dharmendra Pradhan would also attend the convention, he said.
In the meeting the minister directed the officers to make proper arrangements and recruitment of faculty in the three model colleges and the only vocational college in the State for the upcoming academic session. Rawat directed the officers to spend the budget allocated for the year 2022-23.
