Very heavy rain warning issued for five districts

Light to moderate rainfall was experienced in various parts of the State with intense spells in Dehradun during the evening on Monday. Meanwhile, the State meteorological centre has once again issued an orange warning (alert) regarding the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun,Tehri, Pauri, Nainital and Bageshwar districts on Tuesday. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and very intense to extremely intense spells are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts today. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Udham Singh Nagar and Pithoragarh districts on Tuesday.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur- one or two spells may be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 31 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today. Meanwhile there was 43 millimetres rain in Raiwala, 32.5 millimetres in Laldhang, 18.5 millimetres in Yamkeshwar and 26.5 millimetres in Kotdwar. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Monday were 29.8 degrees Celsius and 23.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 31 degrees Celsius and 26.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.2 degrees Celsius and 16.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24.8 degrees Celsius and 18.5 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
