Veteran journalist RP Nailwal no more

Veteran journalist RP Nailwal passed away in Gurugram on Wednesday. He breathed his last following a heart attack. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed grief at the demise of the noted journalist and wished the bereaved family strength to bear the loss. The office bearers of the Uttaranchal Press Club and various unions of journalists also expressed grief at Nailwal’s passing away.

Nailwal had worked with a prominent English national newspaper in various parts of the country before working in Dehradun. He also contributed articles to The Pioneer, Dehradun, in addition to writing for various publications in different Indian States. With his vast experience and knowledge, he was known to have deep knowledge of political, bureaucratic and various other aspects of the government, society and environment in Uttarakhand.

Known for his grasp on various matters based on his experience and journalistic skills, he had raised various socio-economically and politically pertinent issues of the State including unplanned urban development, encroachment on government lands, functioning of the government, tourism and other important concerns of Uttarakhand through his guest columns in this newspaper.
