Veterans can play vital role in nation building : Governor

Governor lieutenant general ( retd) Gurmeet Singh paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a floral wreath at Saurya Sthal on the occasion of Armed Forces Veterans Day on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the mantra of ‘nation first’ that veterans have lived by throughout their lives is a source of inspiration for the entire society. He said that a soldier remains a soldier until his last breath and teaches society the lessons of discipline, commitment and unity. Expressing gratitude to Veer Naris, the governor said that caring for the families of martyrs and their dependents is our utmost duty and responsibility.
He said that every veteran possesses leadership qualities, dedication, discipline and a passion for excellence, making them ideal leaders for society. “The veterans can make incomparable contributions to nation-building, not only in the military but also in civilian life, imbued with a spirit of discipline and public welfare,’’ he said.
The programme was attended by cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi, general officer commanding, Uttarakhand Sub Area Major General MPS Gill, serving officers, JCOs and others.
