Two semi-final matches were played in the inter-school basketball tournament being held under the aegis of Nainital District Sports Association.
The first match was played between Sainik School Ghorakhal and Guru Teg Bahadur Secondary School Haldwani in which the latter beat the former by a margin of 76-44 points and entered the final. The second match was to be played between MP Inter College Ramnagar and Birla Vidya Mandir Nainital. But the former team failed to present the eligibility certificate of the players and under the sports rules of Nainital Gymkhana and District Sports Association, they were declared ineligible. Consequently, Birla Vidya Mandir was declared the winner.
The final match is slated on Wednesday between Guru Teg Bahadur School Haldwani and Birla Vidya Mandir Nainital where the Uttarakhand Olympic Association President Mahesh Negi will be present as the chief guest.
