In latest news from Uttarakhand, a senior officer working at the assistant regional transport office (ARTO) was caught red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 3000 from a truck driver by Vigilance sleuths in Kotdwar.
According to the Vigilance officers, the arrested officer had taken Rs 7,000 from the truck driver though the chalan he was slapped with was worth Rs 4,000. The sleuths raided his residence, too. The department acted after receiving a number of bribery complaints against the officer.
