Vigilance starts probing tender process for waste collection

PNS | DEHRADUN

The Vigilance Establishment has initiated an investigation into the tender process for door-to-door waste collection in 47 wards of Dehradun following an order of Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday. The investigation was reportedly prompted by concerns over potential irregularities in the tender process, which led the High Court to order a Vigilance inquiry.

The Vigilance team visited the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Thursday to collect relevant documents related to the tender. The team also gathered information from MCD officials regarding the process. In accordance with the court’s instructions, the MCD was directed to provide two sets of all documents related to the tender process to the Vigilance team by Friday afternoon. As per the officials, the MCD submitted all relevant documents on Friday. They informed that the tender process, which began about four months ago, aimed to select a company for door-to-door waste collection in the city’s 47 wards. The Nature Green Company was chosen in January to manage the waste collection. However, another company that participated in the tender process challenged its exclusion from the technical bid and filed a petition in the High Court.

The company claimed that it was unfairly disqualified despite meeting all the necessary criteria, as per the officials. They said that the High Court has directed the Vigilance to complete the investigation within two weeks and submit a report in court by March 25.
