Vigilance team catches JE taking Rs 50,000 bribe in Rishikesh

A junior engineer of the UJVNL posted in Rishikesh was arrested on Thursday by the Vigilance team for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor. The accused, identified as Faisal Khan, was caught red handed by the Vigilance trap team during a planned operation.
According to officials, the complainant had contacted the Vigilance Establishment through the toll-free helpline number 1064. He stated that he works in government tenders and had submitted a tender for work at Pashulok Barrage in Rishikesh. The complainant alleged that JE Faisal Khan was demanding a bribe in exchange for clearing the payment related to the work.
After verifying the complaint, the Vigilance Establishment registered a case at its Dehradun police station. A trap team was then formed under the supervision of senior officials to take action against the accused.
On Thursday, the Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Faisal Khan while he was allegedly accepting Rs 50,000 from the complainant. The accused is a native of the Katortaal area of Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district.
