The tableau showcasing ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’ is being exhibited for the first time at the Bharat Parv which commenced on January 23. The programme will conclude on January 31 in Delhi. According to the joint director of the Information department KS Chauhan, the theme of the tableau in Bharat Parv is ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has referred to Uttarakhand as the State that is expected to attain considerable progress in the third decade of the 21st century and the State government is consistently taking steps in order to achieve this.
The tableau depicts a Kumaoni woman in traditional attire welcoming visitors and showcasing the cultivation of traditional crops including Manduwa, Jhangora, Ramdana and Kauni, as well as the State bird Monal. The central part of the tableau features the homestay programme which is a government scheme that provides income generation opportunities to thousands of villagers. He further said that in the year 2023, the Central government declared Sarmoli village of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand as the best tourism village. Additionally, the Lakhpati Didi Yojana has played a significant role in promoting women’s self-reliance in the State, he added.
Chauhan informed that the tableau of ‘Viksit Uttarakhand’ also showcases various initiatives such as the all-weather road, the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, ropeway and road connectivity to India’s first village Mana. Such initiatives have greatly improved transportation facilities for the locals and visitors in Uttarakhand, he said.
