Congress MLA from Haridwar Rural, Anupama Rawat continued her protest at the Bahadarabad police station against what she termed the harassment of party workers by the police. On the second day of her protest on Friday, the villagers also reached the police station with their cattle in support of the MLA who continued her protest in the presence of the cattle and villagers.
MLA Anupama Rawat has been sitting on a dharna in Bahadarabad police station area since Thursday in protest against the FIRs against Congress workers. On Friday the villagers with their buffaloes and buggies also came to the police station. The MLA said that an attempt is being made to break down the Congress workers in Haridwar Rural constituency. She alleged that they are being pressurised to join the BJP failing which cases are being filed against them on trumped up charges. She further claimed that the former MLA from the BJP Yateeshwaranand is exerting unnecessary pressure on the Congress workers. Due to this pressure, dozens of the party workers have been falsely booked. Rawat said that she will not end her dharna till these cases are withdrawn. While speaking on the cattle being brought to the police station, Rawat said that she is the MLA of Haridwar Rural and the people of her constituency are sitting on dharna with her.
