Violations galore in DAV PG College, largely peaceful polls in MKP

Wednesday, 08 November 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The atmosphere during the students union elections in MKP college and DAV PG college on Tuesday present considerably different pictures. In DAV college, several violations were observed during the election.

Students could be seen fighting with one another and many had blocked the road outside the college which caused severe traffic jam for a considerable time. Additionally, the students of ABVP and the Aryan group also had an altercation on accusations of distributing fake identity cards. This also led to some students exchanging blows. The police had to resort to using mild force to control the violence among the students.  Apart from this, many of the Lyngdoh committee recommendations were flouted in the college.

On the other hand, the students union election at MKP College was largely peaceful. However, there was a decrease in the number of voters compared to the previous year. Only 1,866 girls, making up an average of 25 percent of the students participated in the voting process.
