The Transport department has got benefitted from the recent auction of VIP numbers of the vehicles. According to officials, the auction saw the number 0001 receive the highest bid of Rs 13.74 lakh, followed by 0003 and 0007, which garnered Rs 4.87 lakh and Rs 3.66 lakh, respectively. In total, the department auctioned 27 VIP numbers within the HH and HJ series. The auction attracted a large number of car enthusiasts, with bids ranging from a minimum of Rs 10,000 to the top bid of Rs 13.74 lakh.
The auction of VIP numbers has significantly profited the Transport department. Commenting about this, regional transport officer (Administration), Sandeep Saini, said that while the number 0001 placed third in the previous auction, it achieved the highest bid this time around.
He added that previously, the number 0007 was sold at an auction for a top bid of seven lakh rupees. It has been reported that the winners of the VIP number, who submitted the highest offers, will need to pay the amount shortly. Not paying within the specified timeframe may lead to cancellation, he said.
