As tourists flock to various destinations in the mountains to enjoy relief from the summer heat in the plains, a considerable number of tourists visited Chamba-Mussoorie fruit belt, Dhanaulti, Tehri lake and other tourist spots in Tehri district on the weekend. Noted poet Kumar Vishwas and his friends were among those who enjoyed boating on the Tehri lake on Sunday.
It is pertinent to mention here that with the mercury level nearing 40 degrees Celsius in many parts of the plains, a large number of tourists reached various destinations in the mountainous regions of Tehri district on Sunday. Crowds of visitors were seen in Thangdhar, Kanatal, Dhanaulti, Burashkhanda and the Tehri dam reservoir on the weekend. A considerable number of tourists from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Dehradun reached Dhanaulti and other locations to enjoy the cool climate.About 1,800 persons visited the Dhanaulti eco park on the weekend. Meanwhile, Vishwas reached Tehri lake and enjoyed boating with his friends on Sunday. He said that he has been visiting this location regularly for the past many years, adding that the Tehri lake can be developed into an international level adventure sports destination.The government should prepare a work plan with expert agencies for this purpose. This location is also suitable for film shooting, he added. It should be mentioned here that more than 3,000 people enjoyed boating in the Tehri lake on Saturday and Sunday.
