In latest news from Uttarakhand, thanks to the treatment at the Government B D Pandey District Hospital, the full vision of a middle- aged man- Chandan (45), a resident of Mallital in Nainital- has returned after six months. The hospital officials said that as he was suffering from heart ailment, ophthalmologists kept dithering on conducting cataract surgery though the cataract had ripened enough to blur his vision. But after he was admitted at this hospital, the ophthalmologists successfully conducted the surgery, keeping the cardiologists in the loop. A lens was implanted and subsequently, he regained his full vision.
Ophthalmologist Dr Deepika Lohani said that though cataract surgery is common the fact that the man is a patient of erratic heart functioning made it difficult for them. “But we successfully conducted it. Surgery will be done on his other eye within a fortnight,” she added.
