The state in-charge of Bharatiya Janata Party Manveer Singh Chauhan said that the government and the rescue teams are working hard to rescue the people trapped beneath the rubble of the collapsed tunnel in Uttarkashi but the Congress is only focussed on finding fault in the efforts. He alleged that Congress leaders always have the same attitude during every disaster in the State. He said that Congress never cared about the victims and its visits to the disaster affected sites are just like going to picnics for their leaders. Chauhan said that rescue work had started immediately after the tunnel collapsed and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been continuously monitoring the situation by taking feedback from the officials concerned. The officials concerned first started the supply of food and oxygen to the workers trapped inside to ensure their health does not degrade there and simultaneously, rescue agencies have been working day and night to get them out. He said that officials are also in talks with the families of the trapped people and updating them about the situation. Dhami has also visited the spot and is keeping an eye on the rescue operation. Chauhan said that CM also formed a committee to investigate the cause of the tunnel collapse and experts are conducting surveys and inspecting the site. He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are also taking information from Dhami regularly. Chauhan said that this is a big disaster and the rescue teams are working rapidly and efficiently as per the advice of experts so rather than doing unnecessary politics on the matter and finding fault in every effort, Congress should actually think about the welfare of victims there. He advised Congress that it should play a positive role by showing restraint in natural disasters.
