The Governor Lieutenant General ( Retd) Gurmit Singh has said that the benefits of the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 would change the way India and Indians learn.

He was addressing the ‘National Youth Conference’ in New Delhi on Thursday as the chief guest. The conference was organised on the occasion of Yuwa Diwas by the Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC). The Yuwa Diwas is celebrated as Swami Vivekanand’s birth anniversary.

“ Arise, Awake and stop not, till the goal is reached, called the maker of modern India, Swami Vivekanand. He has  said that fearless, frank, clean-hearted, courageous and ambitious youth are the foundations on which the future of the nation is built. He believed in youth and the youth power and each one of you,’’ said Singh.

The governor also gave reference to Adi Shankaracharya, who had strung together the country with the thread of unity and spoke about the sacrifices of Guru Govind Singh sons, and youths like Sardar Bhagat Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five resolutions (Panch Pran) would help India guide the world as it reached its 100th year of independence. He concluded with a message to the youth on sustainability and appealed to everyone to take home some aspects of the ideologies, philosophies and thoughts spoken today, so they can partake in the revolution and transformation that is India.

The governor applauded the efforts of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for organising the event. He said “you have to grow from the inside out. None can teach you. None can make you spiritual. There is no other teacher but your own soul.’’
