The people of Uttarakhand remember the role of Bharatiya Janata Party in creation of Uttarakhanda and the development works undertaken by BJP governments. Similarly, the people have also not forgotten the stance of the Congress against creation of Uttarakhand state and the misgovernance of Congress governments. The people are going to stamp their approval on the BJP’s appeal for 60 plus seats this time. Former Union minister, ex-chief minister and Haridwar MP Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said this while addressing media persons virtually in Haldwani due to his inability to reach the city because of bad weather.

Nishank said that the intention and efforts of the BJP for creation of a separate state were clear during the times of undivided Uttar Pradesh when the party had accorded the status of separate state organisation to Uttaranchal. The Congress should feel ashamed for always opposing the creation of a separate state, he said. “Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a real son of Uttarakhand who not only fulfilled the decades old demand for creation of a separate state but also granted a special package for development of the newly created state of Uttarakhand. The Congress governments did nothing for the development of the state. On the contrary, the Congress government under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh withdrew the special package for Uttarakhand before the set time period,” said Nishank. Remembering his experiences while serving as the chief minister of Uttarakhand, he said that even for projects worth Rs 100 to Rs 200 crore, he had to plead with the Congress government at the centre. On the other hand, the BJP government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has facilitated development works worth Rs one lakh crore in the state. He recalled that in the recent past PM Modi had launched development works worth Rs 17,000 crore in Haldwani and Rs 18,000 crore in Dehradun apart from approving development works worth Rs 2,000 crore for Haldwani. “The Congress is today shamlessly pretending respect for soldiers while the leaders of the same party had in the past referred to the late general Bipin Rawat as a ‘Sadak ka Gunda’, had sought proof of the surgical strike and questioned the valour of our armed forces and accused our jawans of atrocities in Kashmir,” said Nishank.

He claimed that under PM Modi’s guidance, the development works undertaken by the double-engine government have brought the state to a position wherein this decade will be that of the state. The former CM spoke about the various Central and State governments’ development projects and schemes undertaken in Uttarakhand, claiming that the BJP government had performed well on all parameters of development in Uttarakhand. He said that the works undertaken prove that the BJP state government has done what it had promised and will definitely fulfill what it is saying now.
